Holistic Thinking and the Priority of Evangelism
The Christian church is notorious for its pendulum shifts. Towards the end of the nineteenth century, liberals began to emphasise the humanness of Christ. They focused on presenting the life of Christ and its example as the main challenges of the gospel. Evangelicals reacted by emphasising the atoning work of Christ (especially as explained by Paul) in their evangelism, almost to the exclusion of the life of Christ.
